Like the neighboring Petit Palais, the Grand Palais was built for the Universal Exposition in Paris in 1900. Ever since, it has hosted art and technology exhibitions as well as occasional sporting events.

Joseph Smith Memorial Building (Hotel Utah)

Opened in 1911, the Beaux-Arts Hotel Utah was a rare cooperative venture of Mormons and non-Mormons, united by their wish for upscale lodgings in Salt Lake City. In 1993, it re-opened as the LDS-owned Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

Farrar Building

Occupying 6,400 square feet at 351-373 State Street, the Ferrar Building dates from 1917. From the 1950s to 1980s it was home to Salem fixture “The Smoke Shop.” Today it houses The Arbor gift shop and a realtor's office.

Completed in 1900 for the Paris Exposition, the Petit Palais is an opulent building in the Beaux-Arts style. Since 1902 it has been the home of the City of Paris Museum of Fine Arts.

Supreme Court and Library Building
Salem, Oregon

The Oregon Supreme Court and Library Building is the oldest structure in Salem's Capitol Mall, built in 1914. The three-story building has a Beaux-Arts design by prominent Oregon architect William C. Knighton.
