  • Christian Features

The Pantheon became a Christian church in 609, with the addition of altars and various decorations. Fortunately no major changes were made to the architecture. The apse and main altar of the church is opposite the entrance.

  • Apse Facade

The apse facade, plain and imposing, dates from the 16th and 17th centuries. It faces west, a unique feature of Early Christian basilicas in Rome.
