Appletree Leaves Former Stable and Remains of Ladhope Tower Melrose, Scotland

Lived in Appletreeleaves house from 1940 to 1960, the tower was a great part of our playground as kids as we often tried to scale walls from outside, Also we used to enter up into loft in shed and then lower ourselves from loft door on N side. Is it true that the monks used to stop there on their way from Dunbar to Melrose Abbey?.
