GV II

House, now a house and gallery. c1500, refronted early and mid C19. Timber framing and brick, colourwashed, with hipped pantile roof. Rendered plinth. Bracketed wooden gutter. 3 storeys, single bay. Full width wooden shopfront, early C19, in Classical style, with pilasters and dentilled cornice. Half-glazed panelled door to right, in panelled recess. To left, a 6-pane shop window. Above, a segment headed glazing bar sash, flanked by a C19 lamp bracket and a C20 shop sign. Above again, a smaller segment headed glazing bar sash. INTERIOR has substantial remains of timber framing, with bay posts and close studded walls to all floors, and arch braces to the upper floors. Ground floor has a stone north wall. Rear extension has further framing. First floor front room has remains of wall painting, c1600. (Information supplied by Lincoln City Council, 09/11/90).
