59/3/10040 No 50 Former Hawker Aircraft 'Experimental Shop, Siddeley House

Experimental shop now offices. 1933 for Hawker Aircraft. Steel frame, brick clad, flat roofed. 3 storeys. Corner towers set forward in red brick flanking central entrance lined with engineering brick. late C20 part grazed entrance replaces former rolling entrance but in original opening. Small paned metal framed windows. Rear stairwell and lift shaft. Interior now partitioned but steel framed structure intact. Hoist and pulley on gantry behind entrance. Listed for its associations with the Hurricane aircraft and later the Henley and Hotspur the prototypes of which were built in this building.
