CASSINGTON BELL LANE SP4510 (East side) 25/23 Old Manor 12/09/73 GV II House. Built c.1735 for Robert Bouchier, Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford. Squared and coursed limestone; gabled artificial stone slate roof; brick end stacks, and gabled projection to stone lateral stack, finished in brick, to right. L-plan with rear right wing. 2 storeys; 2-window range. Keyed flat stone arches over late C19 six-pane sash and C20 window; half-dormer with C20 window has moulded wood cornice to hipped roof. Wing of one storey and attic with hipped roof, to rear; 6-panelled door to left set in moulded wood architrave with raised and keyed stone architrave and C20 hood; gabled dormer above has keyed flat stone arch over stair light; renewed to semi-circular arch over C19 window with glazing bars. Interior: all rooms are panelled; panelled doors. Ground and first-floor rooms to left also have bolection-moulded overmantels over stone fireplaces with imposts. Room to rear has marble fireplace, moulded and dentilled plaster cornice and painted shell heads to niches. Fine dog-leg with landing staircase has turned balusters set on closed string and ball finials to newels. (National Monuments Record; Information from VCH)
