SP2804-2904 CARTERTON AND BLACK BOURTON BAMPTON ROAD (North side) Black Bourton 10/141 Mill Farmhouse and attached outbuilding

GV II Farmhouse. Early C19 with C20 casements. Coursed rubble limestone with dressed stone quoins and stone slate roof. Brick chimneys with chamfered corners and off-set caps. Outshot plan with projecting wing to rear of right bay. 2 storeys and attic, 3 bays. Large C20 3-light metal casements, retaining original flat stone arches and keyblocks. 3 hipped eaves-line dormers with 2-light casements. Between left bays is a flush-panelled door in gabled porch. Attached to right is a later C19 2-storey bay, formerly a cottage, and a lofted outbuilding with external stone steps to upper door. Single-storey outbuilding to far right with C20 monopitch roof of corrugated iron, is not of special architectural interest. Rear wing of original house, formerly a cheese room with loft over, retains older windows and stop-chamfered ceiling beams. Interior of front wing has high ceilings with plain beams, and altered fireplaces.
