PARISH OF REPTON WILLINGTON ROAD SK 30/3127 SK 30/3126 6/87 (North Side) Lychgate and Churchyard Wall at St Wystan's Church GV II
Lychgate and walls. Medieval, C19 and c1905. Random and coursed sandstone and ashlar, lychgate with timber and plain tile roof. Lychgate of c1905 as a memorial to Rev A Formon. Chamfered stone plinth with timber superstructure. The sides are divided into two bays with plain balustrade between the principal uprights. Gabled roof with plain tiles and open timberwork gables with moulded bressumers and carved bargeboards to south. Pair of timber gates curving down to the centre. Attached ashlar walls are ramped down to square piers with gothic panels and pyramid caps. Random coursed wall with chamfered copings, enclosing south and west sides of the churchyard. Along the west side are four late C18 and early C19 memorial tablets to members of the Stevens family. Wall enclosing south east side is possibly medieval, with four buttresses to the west. Likewise the wall attached on the north side of the church enclosing a separate rectangular enclosure. Of coursed rubblestone with a stringcourse to the west and chamfered copings.
