Gates, gatepiers and railings to museum. 1873-87. Alfred Waterhouse. Portland stone piers of octagonal section, supporting wrought iron railings. To Cromwell Road entrances larger square piers, topped by lanterns, with inset terracotta reliefs and elaborate wrought iron gates. To centre openwork wrought iron piers topped by gilded lions.
