Terrace of modest 4th rate houses. c.1822 by Decimus Burton, service accommo- dation for Nash's Regent's Park scheme with the former York Baths in the centre. Stucco faced, brick rear; slate roofs. Unified composition given monumentality, despite small scale, by central slightly recessed portico of former Baths and slightly advanced end pavilions. 2 storeys and dormered mansards, the end pavilions with low attic storeys, on basements. 3 window house fronts with one window to end pavilions and 3-window returns. Graeco-Egyptian eared architraves with cornices to ground floor sashes and former doorways, plain sashes to 1st floor, all with glazing bars. End pavilions have small horizontal rectangular tripartite attic windows. The recessed portico is hexastyle with giant Ionic columns and pediment. Crowning entablature with balustraded parapet between portico and end pavilions. Spear head area railings. John Nash; John Summerson.
