TQ 2782 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER GLOUCESTER PLACE, NW1 34/37 (East side) 14.1.70 Nos. 132 to 170 (even) and 170A G.V. II Long terrace of houses. c.1815-20 Portman Estate development. Stock brick (Nos. 132-134 stucco) with channelled or rusticated stucco ground floors; slate roofs. 4 storeys and basement. Nos. 132 to 138 with 3-window wide fronts, Nos. 140 to 170 with 2 window fronts (No. 170A in 4-window return of No. 170). Semicircular arched doorways; Nos. 132 to 138 (even) to left with panelled doors in Greek Doric column jambs, cornice-heads and fanlights; Nos. 140 to 170 to right, with panelled doors in pilastered or moulded jambs, cornice-heads and fanlights. Recessed, mostly glazing bar sashes, semicircular arched to ground floors of Nos. 140 to 170, under flat gauged arches to upper floors. Plat band over ground floor, stone coped parapets. Geometric-anthemion patterned cast iron balconies to 1st floors. Cast iron area railings with urn finials. Part of one of the most extensive and intact sequences of Georgian terraced houses in London.
