TQ 2882 SW CITY OF WESTMINSTER DEVONSHIRE PLACE, W1 35/42 Nos. 23 to 25(consec.) 14.3.66 G.V. II

Terraced town houses. c.1790-1800 Portland Estate development, continuing Upper Wimpole Street. Stock brick with channelled stucco ground floors; slate roofs. 4 storeys with dormered mansards, No. 25 with 5 storeys, on basements. 3-window wide fronts. Wide semicircular arched doorways to left; panelled doors, side lights, pilastered jambs, moulded doorheads, patterned fanlights. Recessed sashes, in stucco reveals under flat gauged arches to upper floors. Plat band finishing off stuccowork at 1st floor level. Parapets with copings and bracketed stucco cornice to No. 23. Continuous early to mid C.19 cast iron balconies to 1st floor. Cast iron area railings with tasselled spike finials.
