SK 27 NW PARISH OF EYAM WOODLANDS HAZELFORD 4/7 Leam Cottage II

House. Late C17, extensively remodelled in early C18. Coursed rubble gritstone with quoins to rear elevation, coped gables with moulded kneelers, end ashlar ridge stacks and stone slates. Two storeys, four bays, with two 3-light mullioned windows to the first floor, and a 2 and 3-light window to the ground floor, together with a single light stair window at half landing level, and a small fire window at the north west end. All windows have flush mullions and surrounds, many retain saddle bars, and two have diamond leaded lights. Elsewhere, C20 joinery. Off-centre doorway with substantial jambs and lintel, and a plain planked door. Rear elevation has mid-wall quoining, indicating alterations to the building's form. A fine late c17 hearth with a moulded cornice is presently sited against the north west gable, but may once have been more centrally sited, within an earlier house.
