AMESBURY COUNTESS ROAD SU 1541 (west side)

11/29 Estate Boundary wall

GV II Boundary wall to Amesbury Abbey park. C18. Flint with stone, and stone copings. Approximately 3m high, commencing at north end of estate wall from Kent House (q.v.), and sweeping down to pedestrian gate to Diana's House (q.v.). Hogs-back coping with apex roll. Strapwork cresting (damaged) over pedestrian gate. Approximately 50m run ending at C20 piers and railings over branch of River Avon. Piers of ashlar with cornice and ball finials. Wrought iron railings in 3 panels with urn finials and supports to stanchions. Within length of wall, 4 blocked slit windows. Breech at south end made 1987.
