AMESBURY CHURCH. STREET SU 1541 11/10 Queensberry Bridge
II Road bridge over the River Avon. 1775 by John Smeaton. Limestone ashlar on elm plank foundations. Central horizontal section of 3 segmental arches of rusticated voussoirs and raised keyblocks, meeting string band at base of parapet. At each end a smaller single arch similarly turned. Cutwaters to piers both sides. Parapet has raised central panel bearing incised inscription MDCCLXXV each side. Bridge widens at abutments and terminates with rusticated quoins. (Turner, T.
