9/41 Gate piers near Hornby Lodge

GV II

Gate piers. Late C18 - early C19. For the Duke of Leeds of Hornby Castle (qv). Ashlar sandstone. Gate pier to north of road is of square plan on a chamfered base, with hollow-chamfered capital and ball finial. The southern gate pier is similar but partially set in wall surrounding Hornby Park. Included for group value.
