SE 4066 BOROUGHBRIDGE LOW ROAD, ALDBOROUGH 6/48 (north side, off) 8.3.52 Aldborough Hall

II*

Mansion. Probably early C17. Red brick with stone dressings including quoins and mullion windows. Gables. Welsh slate roof. 2 and 3 storeys. New entrance to north where Victorian wing demolished. To west a 3-storey battlemented canted bay with mullion and transom windows. Late medieval 4-centred fireplace in former school room. Large scale Jacobean staircase, from Lymore, Montgomeryshire:term-shaped fielded-panelled balusters larger similar newels with stepped pyramidal or inverted heart-shaped finials. Adam fireplace in dining room. Panelling fron Ashley Park Surrey. Several other fine imported features including doors, woodwork and cornices.
