KIMBOLTON HIGH STREET TL 095675 (NORTH-EAST SIDE) 6/51 NO. 20 AND 22 24.10.51 (THE NEW SUN PH) GV II

Shop and inn with altered C18 street facade to original C16 timber-framed jettied building with chimney stack dated 15 on mantel beam. Two storeys with attics. Brick and timber-frame rendered on street facade. C18 roof reduced to mansard roof with slate and plain tiles. Ridge stack. Deep, moulded eaves cornice. Dentil decoration to triangular pediment with small ogee headed hung sash window with glazing bars. Two flanking horizontal sliding sash dormer windows. Three first floor hung sash windows witn glazing bars in flush wooden frames. Slightly projecting windows flank half-glazed door with common entablature to south-east. Central plank door to through passage. Panelled door with two large flanking windows with glazing bars to north-west. Interior has inglenook hearth with dated mantel beam. Exposed ceiling beams. Two-light mullioned and transomed windows, C18 cupboard and door architraves reset in wall. RCHM (Hunts) p174, mon(14).
