2/9 The Old Schoolhouse And Old School Adjoining To North-west

School and Schoolhouse in a neo-Gothic style, now house and store. Dated 1858 in gable end to north-west. Schoolhouse to left: flint with stone dressings, plinth and lacing courses. Half hipped patterned tile roof with ridge cresting, 2 stacks to left and right at rear, and 2 gabled dormers with 2-light diamond leaded casements. Half hipped cross wing projecting to right with lower eaves, ridge stack and gabled dormer in left-hand return front with 2-light diamond leaded casement. 1½ storeys. 2-arched light diamond leaded casement to left and arched diamond leaded casement to right flanking arched boarded door off-centre to right with hoodmould and carved stops. Canted bay with mullioned and transomed windows and tile roof in cross wing to right; 2-arched light diamond leaded casements in gable end above. School to right: flint with stone dressings, plinth, lacing courses, and stone coped parapeted gable end to right. Patterned tile roof with ridge cresting, 2 square ridge lights with pyramidal caps, 3 gabled dormers with 2-light casements, and roof extending to right over gable end to form gabled timber bellcote. 1 storey. 4 bays with paired cusped windows. Chamfered arched doorway to left with boarded door; gabled timber porch on flint and stone base. North-west front: paired transomed cusped windows flanking central buttress with circular sexafoil window in gable end above. Small gabled entrance lobby projecting to right with boarded door and arched overlight to north-east, and small circular window with carved surround in gable end to north-west.
