ROLLRIGHT CHURCH END SP3231-3331 Great Rollright 12/128 Rectory Cottage
GV II
House. Mid C17. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings; Welsh-slate roof with brick ridge stack. 2-unit lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys plus attic. Regular 3-window front has a central doorway with a wooden lintel below a 2-light stone-mullioned window; right bay has 3-light mullioned windows at both floors, but left bay had a 4-light window at ground floor, later reduced to 3 lights when a doorway was inserted to extreme left. All windows have labels. Steep-pitched C19 roof has a gabled roof dormer and a large central stack of 3 shafts. Right gable wall has a chamfered plinth and has aligned mullioned windows of 3, 3 and 2 lights. Rear, facing road, has a small original stair window and 2 later windows. Interior: central back-to-back open fireplaces: one with a cambered bressumer and blocked oven, the other with inglenooks.
