EYNSHAM MILL STREET SP4309 (East side) 14/144 No.2 (The White House) 12/09/55

GV II

House. Mid/late C17, refronted and extended c.1830. Roughcast over limestone rubble; gabled stone slate roof; left end stack of stone finished in C17 brick. 2-unit plan extended to double-depth plan. 2 storeys; 4-window range. Early C19 eight-pane sashes flank smaller 8-pane sash in blocked doorway; first-floor 6-pane sashes. Raised storey band and fluted pilasters; coved cornice. C19 extension to right: roughcast, with gabled C20 tile roof and brick end stack; reset 6-panelled door. Early C19 range to rear, of chequer brick with sashes and Welsh slate roof. Interior: c.1830 straight-flight staircase to rear of front range, which has boxed beams, open fireplace with bressumer to left and collar-truss roof with butt purlins.
