SE 46 NW ELLENTHORPE ELLENTHORPE LANE (south side, off) 4/22 Ellenthorpe Hall
20.6.66 - II
House. Early - mid C19 with mid C20 alterations. Brick, Flemish bond, Westmorland slate roof. 2-storey, 3-bay central block flanked by 2-storey, 3-bay wings, set back. Central block: 6-panel door with fanlight flanked by attached Doric columns supporting dentilled triangular pediment, sashes with stone sills and incised lintels; stone eaves cornice; pyramidal roof with central stack. Left wing: sashes with incised lintels to ground floor, smaller 4-pane sashes above; roof hipped to left with end stack. Lower right wing: C20 fenestration. Added bay on right not of special interest. The house stands close to the north bank of the River Ure, facing Aldborough, from where a routeway formerly crossed the river just downstream.
