STEVENTON THE CAUSEWAY SU4691 (North side) 12/59 Steventon Primary School 25/02/72 (Formerly listed as Steventon Parish School)

GV II

School. Circa 1864 and 1871 by G,E. Street, addition of 1900 (foundation stone to gable end). Red brick with stone sill band; old plain-tile complex roof; brick lateral stack to rear; brick bell-cote to left cross-wing, Complex plan. Single-storey, 4-bay class-room range to right, with single-storey, 4-bay class-room range to right, with single-stormy linking archway to left end leading to single-storey, 3-bay class-room cross-wing. C19 plank doors to doorways. Irregular fenestration of C19 casements, some with C19 wrought-iron bars. Interior not inspected but noted as having C20 alterations. C20 additions not of special architectural interest. Included for group value. (Buildings of England: Berkshire; p228, 1975)
