HENDERSKELFE SOUTH PARTERRE SE 7169 (south-west corner) 12/62 Pedestal (formerly listed under "Castle Howard with 25.1.54 Outbuilding to east and garden statues") GV I Composite pedestal. c1720. By Nicholas Hawksmoor. Sandstone. Approximately 4.5 metres in height. Central rectangular pier, surmounted by drum pedestal, flanked by rectangular buttresses with raised panels, each carrying an urn with festoons and finial on shaped base. Moulded base and cornices. Formerly carried lead statue of the Wrestlers, now disappeared. Hussey C, English Gardens and Landscapes 1700-1750, 1967.
