LANHYDROCK TREBYAN SX 06 SE 9/89 Trebyan Forge

Forge. Late C19. Squared granite rubble with granite quoins. Hipped slate roof with ridge tiles. Stack at left end and rear, with brick shafts. Plan: Large purpose-built forge for the Lanhydrock estate. Main range has stack at left end for furnace, and stack to rear right; small store room to room to rear right. Wing to front left for shoeing horses. Exterior: Tall single storey building ; The main range has double doors to front right, raised in height ; window at right side, stack at left end. The front wing has door with overlight on inner side, and large multi-pane window at the left side. Rear has large window and single storey attached store room with plank door and 6- pane light. Large ventilator with hipped roof over the main forge. Interior: This is a working forge with all fittings intact. The stack at the left end has a fireplace with granite sides and brick hood ; stone hearth and granite anvil block. The shoeing room has cobbled floor. C19 roof. This is an unusual survival ; a purpose-built forge with all original fittings intact.
