LANHYDROCK LANHYDROCK PARK SX 06 SE 9/81 Garage in the estate yard - immediately north of the barn

GV II

Garage, now with living accommodation at first floor, formerly with workshops at first floor ; wall attached at the left end. Circa 1900, with C20 alterations. Slatestone rubble with granite dressings. Slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. Gable end stack to right and axial stack, with brick shafts. The wall is in rubble with slate coping, with a pair of rubble piers. Plan: Rectangular garage, with the entrances for the cars to front ; workshops at first floor, built into the bank at the rear. Wall attached at the left end, enclosing a rear yard in the estate yard. The front of the garage encloses a yard with barn (q.v.). Exterior: 2 storeys, asymmetrical front ; to right, there are two large double doorways with granite segmental arches ; single door with overlight to left. Single storey lean-to at the right end, with single casement with segmental arch. First floor has C20 2-light casement to right, long 7-light window to left, formerly lighting the workshop. The right end has 2 C20 2-light casements at first floor. The left end also has C20 casements at first floor. At the rear, double doors with segmental arch in the lean-to. To left, an external stone stair leading to a C20 plank door with flat hood. Off-centre to right and second external stone stair to a similar door, with C20 2-light casement to left. Interior: Not inspected. The wall is attached at the left end of the garage, about 2 metres high, extending to enclose the north side of the estate yard. Rebuilt in C20. Pair of stone rubble piers of square plan, with convex shaped granite caps and ball finials; C20 wooden gates.
