9/89 Hope House (formerly listed as Hope 4.2.69 House and Hill Top Grange)

House. Mid-late C18. Rubble with ashlar dressings, pantile roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Chamfered rusticated quoins. Central C20 6-panel door in ashlar surround with keystone. Sash windows with glazing bars in ashlar surrounds, formerly with external shutters on ground floor. Cornice. Shaped kneelers. Ashlar copings. Brick end stacks. Single-storey outbuilding to right not of special interest. At the height of the copper- mining boom in Middleton Tyas this was a public house called the Miners' Arms. Subsequently it was divided into 2 houses.
