SE 26 NE MARKINGTON WITH HOW HILL ROAD WALLERTHWAITE (west side, off)
5/65 Foal Cote House
- II
House. Mid-late C18 altered early C19. Gritstone, C20 pantile roof. 2 storeys, 2 first floor windows, with rear outshut and lower range to left at right-angles. Central C19 panelled door. Flanking and first-floor windows are 16-pane sashes in flush wood architraves. Sawn-stone sills and lintels throughout. Projecting eaves band, end stacks. Interior: main block not inspected, left-hand range has large open fireplace with mantle beam and substantial ceiling beam to central room. This wing now used as a chicken house. Rear, main block: 4 panel door, 3 side-sliding and one vertical sash with glazing bars. Right return: blocked first-floor door;side-sliding sashes.
