8/2 The Cottage (formerly listed as The Cottage, 6.3.67 Fountains)

GV II

House. 1749. Coursed squared sandy gritstone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys and attic, 2 bays, with single-storey bay to right. Central 4-panel door, quoined surround and large lintel with inscribed date. Shaped stone brackets support hood made from single slab, with slightly ridged upper surface. Flanking and first-floor windows of 3 lights with hollow chamfered mullions. Coved eaves, wooden gutter brackets, end stacks. Left return: 3- light mullion window to first floor, two 2-light mullion windows to attic. Interior not inspected at resurvey; single-storey bay reported to contain remains of cruck framing. C20 garage attached to left, not of special interest.
