HENDERSKELFE BROAD WALK SE 7170 (north side, off) Castle Howard 11/35 Statue of shepherd boy and pedestal GV II Statue of a shepherd boy and the pedestal on which it stands. Early - mid C18. Lead statue on stone pedestal. Approximately 3.5 metres in height. Slender pedestal with moulded base and cornice. Figure of rustic shepherd boy in C18 dress leaning on a tree stump. The dog and flute usually associated with this model are missing but dowels in the pedestal indicate the former position of the dog. This is the only lead statue with a non- classical prototype in the Castle Howard collection.
