  1. 1498 PENZANCE CHAPEL STREET (North East Side) The Union Hotel SW 4730 5/33 29.7.50.

II* GV

  1. Early C19. Stucco. Ground floor plain, above flat Ionic pilasters, fluted. Eaves parapet, cornice, scrolled and decorated blocking course slightly pedimented. 3 storeys. 6 windows, 2 blocked, sill aprons to 2nd floor, sashes with glazing bars, ground floor in slight recesses. To right wide recessed doorway which was originally carriageway. Interior - Fine Assembly Room of 1791 the scene of first public announcement of victory at Trafalgar, large room of about 23 ft +. ; high, vaulted ceiling and dentilled cornice. Balustraded gallery with elliptical arch, fireplace with Tuscan columns, large semi-circular headed windows. Regency staircase. Art Nouveau bar at rear.
