NZ 4824 BILLINGHAM THE GREEN (South side) 19/432 COWPEN BEWLEY 25.1.51 Ivy House II*

C17. Red brick with very high pitched roof now covered in Welsh slate. Ornamen- tal brickwork now rare in the district. Two storeys, five windows. West end altered and roof raised in late Georgian period. Sandstone foundation. Moulded brick cornice and corbelled string, the latter rising to form dripmoulds over elliptical arched window openings; and plinth band. Inserted six-panel door with fanlight. Original rear pentice extended in C19. Interior largely remodelled in C19 but some ceiling beams with convex chamfer stops are still visible. King post roof trusses with posts double-braced to the tie beam and supporting a ridge piece but no purlins.
