THORNBURY CHURCH ROAD 4/19 (north side) ST 6390 21.9.52 West Lodge to Thornbury Castle, and adjoining gateway GV II
Dated 1855 with initials of Howard family over pedestrian door in gateway. Tudor Gothic Lodge. Rubble with ashlar dressings. Tiled roof with coped verges. One and 2-light 4 centred arch headed casements under hood moulds. Studded plank door with elaborate hinges. Projecting lateral stack bears Howard arms. Gateway. Two embattled piers with armorial bearings. Pedestrian door to left, under 4 centred head.
