BARDEN GRAPE LANE SE 05 NE (West Side)
6/106 Barn 10 metres north- west of Watergate
Description: Barn. Early 18C with minor later alterations. Dry store rubble with corrugated iron roof covering remains of heather thatch. Tall single storey. Three bays. Quoins. Main elevation has door to left below crude arched lintel and off central entrance to right below timber lintel, now with door and late blocking. Rear elevation has lower entrance below timber lintel opposite, now with late door and window. To right on lean to addition of no special interest. To left a roof dormer with fixed small pave window. Interior has large collared trusses with double staggered purlins and substantial ridge purlin. Narrowly spaced crude common rafters support remains of heather thatch.
