TL 63 SE FINCHINGFIELD HOWE STREET (west side)
3/55 Yeldham's Farmhouse

House. Circa 1570, extended in early C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays aligned NW-SE, facing SE, with C19/20 external stack on front end of right return wall, and C18 lean-to extension on rear end, forming a catslide roof. Early C19 wing to left of rear end, with axial stack at right end, forming an L-plan. 2 storeys. In left wing, one- window range of early C19 sashes of 16 lights with crown glass, and 4-panel door at front of gabled porch in angle. In right wing, 2-window range of C20 casements and C20 glazed door. Gable weatherboarded. There is an early C19 sash of 16 lights with crown glass at the rear end of the right block, and a C19 horizontally sliding sash of 18 lights on its left side. Rear end of right roof hipped. The interior has jowled posts, some exposed close studding, some original wattle and daub infill, chamfered transverse and axial beams, chamfered joists of horizontal section with lamb's tongue stops, and a complete crowpost roof with axial bracing.
