HIGH STREET 1. 1092 (North-west Side) The Guildhall (No 203) SX 9192 NE 2/183 29.1.53 I GV 2. 1468-70, restored in C19 with the porch and mayor's parlour above of 1592-4. The hall has an arch-braced timber roof of seven bays and Perpendicular windows, the north one being renewed. The porch projects over the pavement on an arcade of granite piers. Three bays. On the floor above are coupled Corinthian columns between four-light mullion and transom windows with leaded lattices. Balustraded parapet. Elaborate inner door of classical design, contemporary panelling. Scheduled Ancient Monument. Nos 192 to 203 (consec) form a group.
