The Fleece Hotel The first line of the description:-

Hotel, Public House. 1897, architect unknown.

Shall be amended to read: Hotel, Public House. 1897, by G G Hoskins, for Messrs R Fenwick and Co Limited (Architects plans).

The list was previously amended in respect of this entry on 10 December 1984 and 6 March 1985.

The Fleece Hotel The description shall be amended to read:

Hotel, Public House. 1897, architect unknown. Brick and terracotta with elaborate gabled tile roof. Castellated Gothic Revival Main facade has 5 bays/ 4 storeys. Entrance in centre through 4-centred porch arch, on either side ceramic round turrets, machicolated and crenellated with a parapet bearing the brewers arms. Above, plain sash windows beneath 3-light bowed oriel with circular pointed roof. On each side a crow-stepped gable with ceramic bowed oriel turrets at roof level with three arrow slits and round pointed roofs. Ground and first levels terracotta bowed 3-light sash windows with crenellated balcony above. 2nd floor 2-light sash windows below 3rd floor slit openings. To the right a 4-centre arch entrance to stables at rear, crenellated with edge tourelles. Friars Wynd elevation has terracotta plaque dated 1897. Interior retains original mahogany staircase, leaded lights and some panelling. Grouped with the Theatre Royal.

Ground and first levels teracotta bowed 3-light sash windows with crenallated balcony above. 2nd floor 2-light sash windows below 3rd floor slit openings. To the right a 4-centred arch entrance to stables at rear, crenellated with edge and to tourelles Friars Wynd Grantham has terracotta plaque dated 1897. Interior retains original mahogany staircase, leaded lights and some panelling. Grouped with the Restoration Theatre.
