TQ 2782 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER GLOUCESTER PLACE, NW1 34/44 (West side) Nos. 151 to 179 (odd) 14.1.70 G.V. II Long terrace of houses. c.1815-20 Portman Estate development. Stock brick with stuccoed ground floors; slate roofs. 4 storeys and basement. Mainly 2-window wide fronts; No. 151 of one bay only, No. 167 of 3 windows and No. 173 double fronted of 4 windows. Semicircular arched doorways to right; panelled doors in pilastered or moulded jambs, cornice-heads and fanlights, some patterned. Recessed sashes, most with glazing bars and semicircular arched on ground floor, under flat gauged arches to upper floors. Plat band over ground floor. Stone coped parapets. Geometric-anthemion patterned balconies across 1st floor. Cast iron area railings with urn finials. No. 179 has its doorway to Ivor Place return with later adjacent shop front. Part of one of the most extensive sequences of Georgian terraced houses in London.
