PARISH OF CHATSWORTH CHATSWORTH GARDENS SK 2670 6/69 Egyptian Statue behind the Duke's Greenhouse, 3m from the Corner GV I Statue. c1570-1304 BC. Egyptian, collected by the Sixth Duke of Devonshire and brought to Chatsworth in the early C19. Granite. Seated female figure with lions head surmounted by head-dress. Set on a damaged seat. Said to the Goddess Sekhmet from the Temple of Mut at Karnak. XVIIIth dynasty. The Gardens and Park are included on the Gardens Register at Grade 1.
