SP3003-3103 BAMPTON CHURCH CLOSE (South-west side) 13/69 Two chest tombs in Churchyard of St. Mary's c.5m to NW of N transept

GV II Two chest tombs, both of limestone ashlar. 1) early C19 with illegible inscriptions. Moulded base, cornice lid and top; moulded inscription panels; panelled pilasters. Top is damaged. 2) late C18, also with illegible inscriptions. Short, upright chest with moulded base, cornice lid, fluted pilasters and moulded panels. End panels have arched tops with rosettes in spandrels. On top of chest is an elegant fluted urn, with lid, on a moulded and stepped base. Chest is set on stone base with missing railings.
