SP2411-2511 Cotswold Gateway Hotel 6/1

Large farmhouse, possibly a posting inn for the traffic on the high road between Oxford and Cheltenham; now a road-house. After 1812. Coursed rubble, slate roof. 3 storeys; 5 bays; chamfered quoins, coped verges, raised flat surrounds to keyed glazing bar sashes. The 3 centre bays of ground floor obscured by C20 1:6:1-light square bay. End chimneys, the right hand one with ashlar base. Parallel range to North linked at East end by 3-storey crenellated set-back with C20 doorway and one range of glazing bar sash windows in chamfered surrounded with drips; the flanking gable ends have tripartite ground floor windows and garret windows. Irregular 2-storey extensions to left, one with ball finial, both with stone slates. Interior transformed by special effects into a Tudor-style road-house with heavily moulded cross-beams.
