CHIPPING NORTON CHURCH STREET SP 3027-3127 (north side) 3/7 - Gateway and walls to Almshouses GV II 1640, contemporary with Almshouses. Ashlar with a cambered archway above which is carved 'Remember the Poor'. Moulded cornice above rises to a bevelled plinth supporting a strapwork panel. 3 ball finials, one on either side and one on top of the panel photographed in 1963 have disappeared. Between the piers, a C19 plank gate with plain arched battens and studs. Low stone walls extend from the gateway to each end of the Almshouses plot.
