CHIPPING NORTON MIDDLE ROW SP 3027-3127 (east side) 3/57 Nos 10 and 10A 11.4.73 GV II House. C17 refronted c1730. Ashlar to the E, roadside front and rubblestone to rear and side walls with a steeply pitched stone tiled roof. One N end stone stack and one centre stone stack with brick cap. One build but with prominent dividing joint down the ashlar skin. Two storeys and attic. Two-window range to each house. No 10 has a segmental headed 2-pane sashed dormer, a moulded string course above the upper windows which have keystones and large pane C19 sashes and a remodelled ground floor with glazed door and canted shop window. No 10A has a 2-pane casement to the dormer and similar fenestration but the keystones are missing from the first floor windows. Evidence of the C17 house to the rear revealed by a close studded jettied section of timber framing and a 3-light 15-leaded pane casement.
