DORCHESTER HIGH STREET SU 5794 (East side 5/46 Churchyard cross approx. ha. S 18/07/63 of Dorchester Abbey (Formerly listed as Preaching Cross)

Churchyard cross. C14/C15, restored 1872 by Sir G. Gilbert Scott. Limestone. Tapering octagonal shaft rises from a square base, with corner stops and a moulded octagonal upper face, set on 3 restored octagonal steps. C19 head is richly carved with 4 canopied niches, containing figures, and an apex cross.
