CORNMARKET STREET 1. 1485 (East Side ) Nos 26 & 27 SP 5106 SW 8/297 12.1.54. II 2. No 26 is a house and shop, No 27 shop only. RCHM 104. Probably C15, altered in C17 and C19. 3 storeyed timber-framed front with a Welsh slate roof and an overhang which is now concealed by modern shop fronts. The facades have been variously altered. No 26 retains its gable but has been recently (1949) much rebuilt internally; it has a modern 3-light sash window in the 1st and 2nd floors. No 27 has shop fronts of plate glass in both the upper floors with a wood frame and a pediment; a parapet above conceals a hipped roof. Interior. At the back, extending to the Ship Street front, is a pointed stone arch, probably an original doorway.
