HUMSHAUGH CHOLLERFORD NY 9170 15/229 The George Inn

GV II

Hotel. Mid C18 extended C19. Roughly-squared stone with dressings, C19 parts snecked stone; Welsh slate roof. South-east elevation 2 storeys + attics, 1 + 4 bays. Main part has boarded door on far left and C20 porch in second bay; 4-pane sash between. 1st floor has 12-pane sashes, 2nd floor 4-pane sash in C19 half dormer and small casement in old stone surround. Third bay behind projecting wing: 1st floor Venetian window, with small-pane sashes, above C20 window; hipped roof. 3-bay inner return of wing shows 12-pane sashes. Right end bay has C20 window. Lower C19 bay to left has ground-floor 4-pane sash and VR wall letterbox. Coped gables with moulded kneelers; stepped and corniced end stacks and flanking stack on right return of wing. Left return shows 4-pane sashes and lancet light in gable.

Extensive C19 and C20 additions to right not of interest.
