The monument comprises a stone circle situated on the summit of Parkhouse Hill.

The monument is of the class of 'recumbent' stone circles, where there is a large recumbent stone between the two tallest upright stones. There are 5 stones still standing, including the recumbent stone itself, and a further 5 stones that have fallen. The stones are set on a bank of small stones and earth which is about 1.2m wide and appears to have had inner and outer stone kerbs. To the SW of the stone circle there are traces of a small stone-built enclosure, about 5m by 3.5m in size, built onto the outside of the bank.

The area to be scheduled measures 60m in diameter, to include the remains of the stone circle and an area around in which traces of activities associated with the construction and use of the monument may survive, as shown in red on the attached map extract.
