The vitrified brick paving of the Star Route & Palouse St. Brick Road in Pullman, Washington is historically significant under criteria A as a resource that relates directly to the ?Good Roads? movement that swept over many communities in Washington State and nationwide in the first decades of the twentieth century. The brick paved sections of streets are an excellent example of how community and business leaders physically transformed their desire to create an attractive and durable all-weather road to Washington State College (WSC), and thus build a ?town and gown? connection between the downtown core and WSC campus. The period of significance begins and ends in 1913, the date of construction of the nominated road section.
