Robert Sawyer monument - St Michael's church, Highclere
The monument to Sir Robert Sawyer of Highclere (1633 - 1692) in the chancel commemorates one of the most eloquent lawyers of his day. He was much admired by Pepys, and as Attorney General for England and Wales, prosecuted members of the Rye House Plot, Titus Oates, and many others. He lived at Highclere in the old mansion that preceded the present Highclere Castle.
