  • Beethoven House in Heiligenstadt 1802

    Beethoven stayed in this house on the northern outskirts of Vienna several times, including in the autumn of 1802 while writing his Second Symphony. The house is now a small museum operated by the Vienna City Historical Museum.

  • Luther's Death House 1546

    Martin Luther spent the last weeks of his life in Eisleben after falling ill during a brief trip to his hometown. Luther's death mask and the gilded Communion cup he used as pastor are among the displays in the house where he died.

  • Luther's Birth House

    Martin Luther was born in this half-timbered house in 1483. Opened to the public in 1693, it was the first memorial museum in Germany.

  • Erasmus House Brussels, Belgium 1521 (Erasmus stayed here); 1932 (museum founded)

    The great humanist and reformer Erasmus of Rotterdam only lived here for less than a year, in 1521, but tourists have been visiting his house since the 17th century. It now houses a museum.

  • Louis Armstrong House Museum New York, New York

    Famous jazz musician Louis Armstrong lived with his wife in this simple house in Queens from 1943 until his death in 1971. It has been preserved just as he left it and is now open to the public as a museum.

  • Nathaniel Russell House Charleston, South Carolina 1809

    The Nathaniel Russell House is a three-story brick mansion built c. 1809 by an unknown architect. Considered a fine example of Federal architecture and Adamesque decor, it features geometrically-shaped rooms and a famous cantilevered staircase.

  • House of St. Bernadette Lourdes, France

    The house of Bernadette Soubirous and her parents is a now a museum, which includes a mill, a kitchen, Bernadette's bedroom and family photographs.
